Applications for Reception September 2026
Part One
Your child can start in Reception class in the September following their 4th birthday.
Parents can access all the information they need and can make an application for a primary school place at https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/schools-and-education/school-admissions/primary-junior-and-middle-schools/primary-junior-and-middle-school-places.aspx .
Applying online is quick, safe and secure and parents will receive confirmation that the application has been received; the application can be viewed at any time online and applicants can check or change the application at any time before the deadline.
Applications to Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) must be made before your application to St Thomas More School can be considered by the Governors. If you live outside Hertfordshire at the time of application, you should apply through your home Local Authority.
Part Two
Alongside your Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) online application, you will also need to provide the following documents directly to St Thomas More School:
-
Supplementary Information Form (SIF) – fully completed
-
Certificate of Catholic Practice (if applicable) – available from your parish priest
-
Copy of your child’s baptism certificate (if applicable)
These documents must be received by the school by the deadline set by HCC. Please note: home is the address where the child permanently resides.
Even if St Thomas More School is not your first preference but you have listed it as one of your choices, you must still submit the documents above to us by the HCC deadline.
After Allocation Day
Families who are offered a place at St Thomas More School will receive a Welcome Email from us. This will followed by:
-
An invitation to our Parents’ Visit Morning
-
Details of a transition session for children to meet their future classmates later in the year
We strongly recommend that both parents and children attend these events wherever possible, as they provide an excellent opportunity to get to know the school community and support a smooth transition.
