Sports Premium
In 2024–2025, St Thomas More Catholic Primary School received £17,480 in PE and Sport Premium grant funding.
How the funding was spent
A total of £5,306.82 was spent during the year, leaving £12,173.18 unspent. This unspent amount will be carried into next year's budget. No funding was carried forward from previous years.
Spending was focused on improving the range and quality of sport and physical activity available to all pupils. This included £1,888.32 on equipment and resources, £1,036 on membership fees, £292.50 on educational platforms, £950 on activities organised through the School Games network, and £1,140 on external coaching staff.
Impact on pupils
The funding has had a positive impact on pupils' access to a broader and more equal range of sports and physical activities. It has also contributed to increased pupil attainment in PE, higher levels of physical activity, more pupils taking part in school sport, and greater participation in extra-curricular activities. Teachers' confidence and competence in delivering PE and school sport have also improved. The changes made are intended to be sustainable going forward.
Swimming and water safety
86% of the current Year 6 cohort can swim at least 25 metres competently and confidently, use a range of strokes effectively (including front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke), and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
