Safeguarding

St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all children. We expect all staff, volunteers, and members of the school community to uphold and share this commitment.

The Local Governing Body (LGB) is responsible for ensuring that a qualified senior staff member is appointed as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). The DSL and their deputies are always available during school hours to address any safeguarding concerns. At St. Thomas More, our safeguarding team includes the following individuals:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Paul Neves (Interim Executive Headteacher)

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Marian Baker (Executive Deputy Headteacher)

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Caroline Manning (SENDCO / SLT)

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Suzanne Gabbitas (Curriculum Lead / SLT)

Safeguarding Governor

Mrs Marie Capes (Chair of LGB)

If you have any concerns regarding a child's welfare, please request to speak with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or one of their deputies. They can be reached by calling the main school number at 01442 264835 or by emailing admin@stmore.herts.sch.uk.

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass, a police and education partnership that provides early safeguarding information, enabling schools to offer immediate support to children affected by domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass ensures that, following any incident of domestic abuse attended by the police, a simple notification is made to the school's trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or their deputy (DDSL) before the start of the next school day. This information sharing allows the school to provide timely and appropriate support to children involved, based on their needs and wishes.

The Collage of Policing produced this short version of a film explaining why Operation Encompass was created.
